The Groasis waterboxx offers considerable cost price advantages for users. One of the manners to save money and increase profits is using seed instead of saplings (young trees or bushes). The possibility to use saplings is already an important “cost saving” compared to the trees that are presently used with the traditional planting methods. With traditional planting methods the survival difficulty and low survival rate as a consequence is often solved by using bigger planting material in order to give the saplings some more substance to survive. But this method of using bigger trees to cause a higher success rate of planting results, also causing the need of deep planting holes which are difficult to make and therefore expensive too, makes planting trees more expensive.

The Groasis waterboxx technique offers the possibility to save considerably on costs of planting material. Look at these arguments:
Instead of using bigger size planting material you can use saplings in plugs. The sapling size preferably not more than 10 cm high and the size of the plug preferably Length 5 x Width 5 x Height 15 cm
If necessary, cut the sapling to maximum 10 cm height.
Instead of using saplings you can also consider to use seed and sow it directly on the place where you want the tree to grow
F1 hybrid seeds create a uniform population but the population is more vulnerable for diseases
Seeds that create a variable population may create differences in growing speed and production but are more resistant to diseases and offer a better living place for natural enemies
Seeds from Quercus, Pistachio, Castanea and many other species are easy to use
The waterboxx offers the possibility to sow one, two or three seeds. Depending from the to be expected germination success rate you can decide to sow one or more seeds in this way creating a 100% planting result
Trees grown from seed grow considerably faster, are considerably stronger, have considerably less problems with draught and are far more effective on rocks
Saplings on plugs or seed are cheap so the cost price of planting this material is low
The extra annual costs of around 1 US$ through using the Groasis waterboxx will therefore partially be compensated by the lower costs of the planting material and the rest will be compensated through the higher success rate of the planting result. The Groasis waterboxx is therefore in many occasions cost neutral in its use.
