Every day it becomes more and more apparent that preternatural and enormous extra quantities of CO₂ enter the atmosphere. This influences global warming which can be considered an established fact given the current state of the art. The Kyoto Convention shows that there is an ever growing awareness that we should really act now. The aim is to have reduced the CO₂ emission in 2012 with 5.4% compared to 1990. Since the Kyoto Treaty is active the CO₂ emissions have increased considerably.

In 2009 he was invited to speak on the African Parliamentarians Summit on Climate Change in Nairobi. There he proposed the countries to adopt the Treesolution. After voting it became clear that the 15 present countries all voted for the adoption of the Treesolution.
