Tree nurseries

Tree-nurserymen know that growing a young viable tree is an interesting business.  With the AquaPro technology, tree nurseries are entering into new, surprising times.  With the old methods, trees live a hazardous first year because they evaporate more water than they receive through their roots.  Usually a bigger tree is planted in order to have more 'body', and so the tree might even survive in dry conditions.  It is obvious that a bigger tree is more expensive.  The Groasis waterboxx works in a different way: we grow trees as small as possible, and which have many roots but almost no leaves.  After planting the small tree, the waterboxx gives the roots a daily, measured quantity of water, so that the tree is established very quickly.  At the same time, because of the small leaf area, the tree evaporates very little water.

Thanks to this method, there are many benefits:

  • small trees = low cost.
  • many seedling roots receiving a daily fixed quantity of water with little evaporation = few trees die after planting.
  • cost of basic materials is considerably lower than it would be with traditional planting methods.
  • planting pace and efficiency is considerably higher as the Groasis waterboxx can be used 10+ times = planting trees with the waterboxx is much cheaper!

Another example of these new possibilities:

In theory, growing young seedling trees can take place near the location where the tree will be ultimately planted.  The nursery stage is done in plugs of 5 x 5 x 10 cm.  In this way, around 300 saplings (young seedling trees) per m2 can be grown in 2 months, or 18,000,000 saplings/yr. on one hectare!  These saplings are subsequently planted in the waterboxx.  When they are planted outdoors, an enormous area can be covered.  The Groasis waterboxx and AquaPro technology realizes all this at extraordinary low costs.
